Nought to five in half-star steps. Tap the left of a star for the half, the right for the whole, the same value again to clear it. Three and a half is a real rating.
A shelf for giving up
Currently Reading, TBR, Read and DNF, in from the start — no custom shelf to invent, no workaround. Abandoning a book at page forty is part of a reading life; your shelves should say so plainly.
Put your TBR in order
Drag the pile into the order you actually want to read it in, so "what next?" is already answered before you finish the last page. Plan the whole quarter, or just pick tomorrow's book — it's your list.

A timer that respects the session
Start, pause, stop, with an optional page number at each end. It keeps running when you switch apps, and it's the one screen we never put an advert on.
Bring your whole Goodreads shelf
Export the CSV, hand it over, and Foxed matches every row against two book databases, fills in the covers, drops the duplicates and tells you exactly what it did.
Opens with no signal
Your library is on the device, so the app is instant underground, on a plane, and in a cottage with one bar. Book search calls Google Books, so that one step wants a connection — everything else, including adding a book by hand, works without one.
