Your books stay on your shelf. Your tbr stays on your phone.

Foxed is an offline-first reading tracker. Track what you read, time your sessions, and see your year — with no account, no upload, and nobody reading over your shoulder. The only thing that needs a connection is looking a book up.

By selecting “Notify me”, you agree that we can send launch news, new features and occasional reader offers. Your address is handled by Mailjet; see our privacy policy. Unsubscribe in one click at any time.

The problem

Three apps, one reading life.

Ask any serious reader what they use and you get a list, not an answer. Each app does one third of the job well and guards it jealously.

The catalogue

Everything except the half star

You keep Goodreads for the database — every edition, every cover. It still won't give you half a star, still has no timer, and wants your library on its servers before it will help you at all.

The numbers

A second app for the stats

Pages, genres, pace, the shape of a year. Now your reading history lives in two places, agrees with itself in neither, and has to be typed in twice by hand.

The habit

And a third for the timer

Because sitting down to read is a habit, and habits want measuring. Three subscriptions, three passwords, three copies of the same shelf. None of them talk to each other.

The answer

One app. On your device. Free for as long as you want it.

Shelves, ratings, a timer and real statistics in one place — written offline-first, so it opens instantly on the Tube, on a plane, and in the bath. Unlimited books on the free plan. No trial that expires on your library.

Your data

Where your reading actually lives.

Not a promise in a policy — an architecture. On the free plan your library is a database file on your phone. There is no server copy to leak, sell or lose, because there is no server copy.

Inside the app

The details other trackers keep saying no to.

Ratings

Half stars, properly

Nought to five in half-star steps. Tap the left of a star for the half, the right for the whole, the same value again to clear it. Three and a half is a real rating.

Shelves

A shelf for giving up

Currently Reading, TBR, Read and DNF, in from the start — no custom shelf to invent, no workaround. Abandoning a book at page forty is part of a reading life; your shelves should say so plainly.

Put your TBR in order

Drag the pile into the order you actually want to read it in, so "what next?" is already answered before you finish the last page. Plan the whole quarter, or just pick tomorrow's book — it's your list.

Timer

00:42:15

A timer that respects the session

Start, pause, stop, with an optional page number at each end. It keeps running when you switch apps, and it's the one screen we never put an advert on.

Import

Bring your whole Goodreads shelf

Export the CSV, hand it over, and Foxed matches every row against two book databases, fills in the covers, drops the duplicates and tells you exactly what it did.

Offline first

Opens with no signal

Your library is on the device, so the app is instant underground, on a plane, and in a cottage with one bar. Book search calls Google Books, so that one step wants a connection — everything else, including adding a book by hand, works without one.

Statistics

Your year, actually counted

Books and pages read, hours spent, your current streak, your goal, and a month-by-month rhythm chart. Genre, format and pace breakdowns for Premium.

"Foxing is the warm brown spotting that time leaves on the pages of a well-kept book. We named the app after the evidence of reading, not the record of it."
